Resolute Forest Products, Union Reach Tentative 4-Year Deal

Resolute Forest Products Inc. (RFP,RFP.TO) late Monday said it has negotiated a tentative four-year agreement has been reached with Unifor, the union representing 1,100 of its hourly employees working in the company’s Canadian pulp and paper operations.

Details of the new pact were not immediately disclosed, with Resolute saying it was allowing union leadership to first present the contract to members. The contract also is subject to ratification by those workers before taking effect.

The master agreement covers eight of Resolute’s Canadian pulp and paper mills: the Amos, Baie-Comeau, Dolbeau, Gatineau, Kenogami and Saint-Felicien facilities in Quebec, as well as its Thunder Bay mill in Ontario and its indefinitely idled Thorold operation also in Ontario.
