The AMD Radeon RX 550X is a mobile graphics card for laptops. It was announced in early 2019 and is based on the Polaris GPU architecture. Polaris is AMD’s lineup of mid-range graphics cards which are intended to provide good performance at a reasonable price. The RX 550X is positioned as a budget graphics card and is meant to compete with NVIDIA’s GTX 1050 series.
The RX 550X has a base clock speed of 1100 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1206 MHz. It has 896 stream processors and 4 GB of GDDR5 memory. The memory is clocked at 7000 MHz and is connected to the GPU via a 128-bit memory interface. The card has a TDP of 50 watts and requires an external power connector. Display outputs include HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4, and DVI-D.
The RX 550X offers decent performance for budget laptops. It will be able to run most games at 1080p resolution with medium to high settings. The card is also capable of running some games at 1440p resolution with low to medium settings.
